Throughout the week, the Villa Gillet at the invitation of the Urban School of Lyon invites you to open the doors of the Anthropocene library to discover atypical works, literary UFOs and other philosophical curiosities. A user-friendly virtual book club which will be an opportunity to interact with novelists, historians, philosophers and anthropologists. Books that you can get at the Archipel Librairie.

Meeting about: Time and water - requiem for a glacier (Alisio, 2021).

«Over the next hundred years, the nature of water will undergo profound changes. Glaciers outside the polar regions will largely melt, ocean levels will rise, temperatures will rise, leading to droughts and floods. The acidity of the oceans will reach a level unmatched for fifty million years. These changes will occur in the span of a human lifetime, that of a child born today and reaching the age of my grandmother, 95 years old.»

Is it already too late? What can we actually do in a few decades? Icelandic activist committed to the protection of the environment, Andri Snær Magnason tells us in the language of the poets about the challenges of global warming. Unwinding the thread of his family history, he tells us about the glaciers he sees disappearing, the cry of alarm sent to us by the planet and the emergency that grips us. Because geological time is over: the world is now changing like a human life. But we can still change the future and our children will already know if we have been successful.
